Technological progress is changing the way societies communicate, work, learn, produce, travel, govern, create, and make decisions. Artificial intelligence, advanced computing, biotechnology, robotics, automation, digital platforms, connected devices, satellite systems, and increasingly sophisticated data networks are expanding human capabilities at a pace that can be difficult for institutions and communities to absorb. The benefits are substantial, but the speed of transformation is creating challenges that require society to think beyond the technology itself.

The concept of progress has long been associated with economic growth and technological advancement. In 2026, this definition is being reconsidered as global challenges highlight the need for more inclusive and sustainable measures.
